Media Records UK’s 1000th Catalogue release!

To celebrate the first summer of releasing that Big In Ibiza sound, and parent company, Media Records, 1000th release (An accomplishment worth celebrating by any standards!) the new Big In Ibiza imprint from the same team behind UMM (Underground Music Movement) present their scorching new summer compilation, Ibiza Anthems 2008.

Following up last year’s # 1 iTunes dance album Bii unveil 10 of their hottest, most upfront, exclusive mixes and anthems including the freshly unleashed and ridiculously huge beast of a bootleg, Picotto vs Papini, ‘Gonna Get Ya’. A mixture of one of Dance music’s most infamous vocals in Mauro Picotto’s classic, ‘Gonna Get Ya’, mashed up with one of the years biggest underground club anthems, Daniele Papini’s ‘Church Of Nonsense’. “Ma Planète Verte By RTS FM” Un Enorme Succès !

Cette 1ère édition du concert‐événement « Ma Planète Verte By RTS FM », organisé par RTS, « la radio des hits et du mix du sud de la France » et parrainé par la fondation WWF‐France a été explosive. 10 000 personnes venues de tous horizons se sont mobilisées pour assister au plus gros évènement électro gratuit de la région en faveur de l’environnement.

Emission du 16h‐20h d’RTS en direct du parvis des arènes :
En début de journée, RTS à crée l’événement avec son émission spéciale « Ma planète verte » en direct du parvis des arènes Nîmes. Différents intervenants se sont succédés dans une ambiance sympathique et décontractée. Partenaires, artistes, auditeurs tous étaient là pour parler : environnement et de leur actualité et jouer avec RTS pour gagner les dernières places pour le concert.

WARM’ UP avec les grands gagnants du concours dj RTS LE MIX :
De 19h00 à 21h00 : le public, déjà nombreux, était là pour encourager Dj Vins « grand gagnant du concours RTS LE MIX 2007 » et découvrir pour la première fois Loïc Penillo, grand gagnant du concours RTS LE MIX 2008. Devant un public survolté, les 2 jeunes Dj ont enchainés des sets éclectiques et énergiques.

Lancement du Concert « Ma planète verte by RTS »

21h00 : Lancement officiel du concert « Ma planète Verte By RTS » avec les djs stars : Dim Chris, Greg Cerrone, Arno Cost, Laurent Wolf, Mathieu Bouthier, David Vendetta, Delon & Dalcan. Chacun d’eux à su donner une ambiance différente au spectacle, faire vibrer les Arènes et mobiliser 10 000 spectateurs pour une cause noble, l’environnement, autour de la musique électronique. Durant le concert, les Arènes se sont enflammées et remplies d’une ambiance festive, pleine de bonne humeur, et de frissons.

De nombreuses surprises sont venues compléter la soirée comme l’apparition de la troupe des Nuits Blanches, avec leur show Psychedelic Garden, sur le set de Laurent Wolf et les Hommes Lumières sur les sets d’Arno Cost et Delon & Dalcan, qui ont donnés aux Arènes une atmosphère magique et unique. David Vendetta, quant à lui, est arrivé sur scène, accompagné de son violoniste pour un set électro acoustique à couper le souffle. Le concert a été retransmis en live sur les ondes de RTS.

Don à la fondation WWF –France :
Autre succès, la compilation « Ma Planète Verte Vol. 1 by RTS », qui était en vente sur le site Internet de Ma planète verte (www.maplanèteverte.com) a rapporté 1145 € à la fondation WWF‐France, la première organisation mondiale de protection de la nature.

SACEM : Vers la fin du monopole national

Comme le craignait l’Alliance Européenne des Auteurs et Compositeurs (ECSA), la Commission Européenne a perdu patience et a mis fin au monopole national des sociétés de gestion collective comme la Sacem. Mercredi, la Commission a arrêté une décision interdisant aux 24 sociétés de gestion membres de la CISAC (”Confédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Auteurs et Compositeurs”) de restreindre la concurrence en limitant leur capacité d’offrir leurs services aux auteurs et utilisateurs commerciaux en dehors de leur territoire national.

Concrètement, les plateformes de musique en ligne française pourront aller chercher les droits d’exploitation dans n’importe quel pays européen, et proposer leurs services à travers toute l’Europe. Toutefois, la Commission préserve le droit des sociétés de gestion nationales à fixer les tarifs de redevance pour leur territoire. De même, les auteurs pourront faire gérer leur droit par une autre société de gestion que la Sacem, là où, par exemple, les frais de gestion seraient plus bas.

La décision permet aux Sacem européennes de “conserver leur système actuel d’accords bilatéraux
et leur droit de fixer le niveau des redevances dues sur leur territoire national”, mais elle s’attaque à deux dispositions clés qui justifiaient l’existence des accords bilatéraux. La Commission a ainsi exigé la suppression des clauses d’affiliation, qui empêche un auteur de choisir sa société de gestion ou de se tourner vers une autre, et des clauses de restrictions territoriales, qui empêchent les sociétés de gestion collective d’offrir des licences en dehors de leur territoire national.

“La décision permettra aux sociétés de gestion collective de se concurrencer en termes de qualité de leurs services et de niveau de leurs frais administratifs (qui sont déduits du montant perçu avant qu’il ne soit remis à l’auteur). Elle incitera ainsi les sociétés de gestion collective à améliorer leur efficacité”, assure la Commission européenne, qui rappelle qu’elle avait tenté de résoudre l’affaire à l’amiable en 2007 mais que les engagements pris par les sociétés de gestion étaient insuffisants.

Selon la commissaire chargée de la concurrence Neelie Kroes, “cette décision aura un effet positif sur la diversité culturelle dans la mesure où elle encouragera les sociétés de gestion collective à offrir aux compositeurs et aux paroliers de meilleures conditions en termes de perception des montants auxquels ceux-ci ont droit. Elle facilitera également le développement de la diffusion par satellite, par câble et sur Internet, en offrant aux auditeurs un choix plus vaste et aux auteurs des revenus potentiellement plus importants”.

La Commission européenne n’a pas infligé d’amende à la CISAC, estimant que la suppression des clauses d’exclusivité serait suffisante.

MAURO PICOTTO PRESENTS MEGANITE IBIZA

Since Mauro Picotto decided to launch his Electronic Music Lifestyle Party at the Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC) in 2002, the event has become a phenomenon, going from strength to strength, hosting nights all over the world and this year returning to Ibiza for its fifth successful year at Privilege, the World’s Biggest Club. Meganite is the full and complete representation of Mauro’s desires. It’s his people with his favourite DJs doing what they want to do, knowing it’s what the crowd wants too. This compilation represents just that, the music that makes Meganite, its DJs and Mauro Picotto so special.

On this album we have a live mix of exclusive cuts culled from Mauro’s superb Alchemy label and a CD of mixes, remixes and new tracks from Mauro’s illustrious career. This is where Mauro is in 2008 and as ever it’s on the cutting edge of electronic wizardry fused with pulsating infectious gyrating badass grooves. Meganite and Megatunes, a perfect harmony.

Mauro Picotto himself is one of those wandering entertainers who jumps on jets, arrives in some city anywhere on earth, plays 8 hours of unique, pulsating electronic grooves, parties and then jumps on another jet. He is the wandering minstrel of the 21st century. His name alone sends hordes of adoring fans into ecstasy. Having had an immensely successful DJing and production career with huge hits and headlining some of the world’s biggest events Mauro Picotto decided that he wanted to mould a whole event both visually and aurally by choosing the venues, the DJs and the production aesthetics. This goal became a reality when in 2004, Meganite found its home in Ibiza at Privilege. Debuting as a midweek party over the 10 busiest weeks, it was an instant success and every year since the night has become ever more legendary with the weekly number of clubbers well over 5,000.

Having seen residents including Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Mistress Barbara, John Aquaviva and Marco Carola with Mauro himself supplying the unique vibe of fat bass and throbbing grooves that have characterized his career, the event returns to Ibiza this year for 16 weekly nights over the season, highlighted by Meganite’s 5th birthday which is set to be the event of the summer featuring a “Mega” live show by Italian electronic music giants SUBSONICA, alongside Mauro and special guest Claudio Coccoluto.

CD1, mixed live by Mauro showcases those sounds he has developed, the tracks that all contain the elements that fulfill Mauro’s needs for groove, his need for bass and his need for something different that lifts spirits and vibrates bones. All tracks are exclusive to Mauro’s respected Alchemy label.

CD2, Mauro Picotto Past & Present - 10 years of Classics and Remixes, showcases some of Mauro’s biggest tracks to date, with remixes and edits by Mauro, his team of likeminded studio manipulators and others. Including the original mix of Iguana and a brand new remix of Lizard for 2008, two of the tracks which helped establish Mauro’s early career. Building through Fonzerelli’s remix of last year’s club smash Evribadi and Smith & Selway’s remix of Maybe, Maybe Not. As well as showcasing some of Mauro’s killer new tunes including the beautifully uplifting, The Kite and Contaminato.
