Mike Ladd will without a doubt be counted as one of the artists who held a great influence on his times. Mike produces an unclassifiable music, in the good sense. Rock, soul, spoken word, blues, punk, psychedelic, all mixed up in a Hip Hop bath coming with percussive texts and a totally unique analogic production. He is to many people Beck’s musical black equivalent.
This album has a political value. Father Divine was a religious leader, who campaigned against the segregation in the US during the 60s.
But this album also is a tribute to the ROIR label’s sound in the 80s.
To be brief, Mike is a multi-faceted and multi-talented artist.

Maniacx was born in 2003 around Stef a.k.a FLIK FLAK, multi instrumentalist (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards…), this phenomenon perfectly masters every single method to make the people move, and if Maniacx didn’t exist, Flik Flak’s music would be predestined for a rock band starring Bob The Sponge, Dr. Globule and Bart Simpson.
Ben a.k.a NAWAK, singer with crazy and passionate lyrics, praising the good side of all things with his touch of madness. His words tell real stories or fiction, always expressed with a reasonable and coherent but still crazy logic. Nawak’s powerful flow has no reason to be jealous of the rappers from across the atlantic. He was born a freestyler, so he is always in for a little session !
Fred a.k.a DUFF is the « Chef » of the group with his electro-recipes, and cooks with his turntable the Maniacx sauce, made up of Game Boy sounds and spicy scratch, that he only can make. Duff’s twirling atmospheres always make him split personalities, and he then becomes Mr. Starlight, whose twinkly and multifaceted head is represented on most of this planet’s dancefloors.
Maniacx released a first eponym album, acclaimed by the press, and managed to establish itself as one of the main groups on the french hip-hop/electro/rock scene. In 2008, Maniacx releases a new album, CRAZY SOUNDS WITH THE ALIENS, produced by Bill Cox at the Cox In Hell studio. This CD offers 14 tracks, crunky, rock and electro, made in Maniacx.

First important thing about 10 rue d’la madeleine : you HAVE to get the album of this group from Nîmes to pretend to have a good view over this gang’s musical expense.
A gang made of Peter Goldberg (violin), Brad Bronstein (voice), Bill Nuggets (guitar), Mike Flanagan (bass), Eddy ‘ED’ Flint (clarinet) et Andy Burke (drums). It does sound english, doesn’t it ? Is this the French Connexion from Nîmes ? Nope. 10 rue d’la madeleine is a french sextet filled with energy, humour, and claims.
They describe themselves as the link between Rage Against the Machine and Goran Bregovic.
10 rue d’la madeleine releases its first album called « Sur les murs », 12 tracks for 40 minutes. The rock influence is very sensible throughout the major part of the album, along with ska rock..

Caution, fresh paint ! There comes the second production of this group from Marseille, created four years ago.
The Paddy’s are just putting away their paintbrushes, and the result is blowing (if not our eyes) our ears away, with a very pleasant 60s rock sound.
Nine perfectly built tracks, between accoustic folk ballads and more upbeat tracks, a bluesy flow and dashes of funk. A fresh, colorful, and definitly lovely canvas.
